HEART HEALTH

The cardiovascular system consists of the heart, the lungs and two sets of vessels that run to all parts of your body, the arteries and the veins.

1. The arteries carry fresh oxygenated blood from the heart to feed all the cells of the body.

2. The veins pick up all the depleted blood which has exchanged its oxygen for the waste products of cell metabolism back through organs like the Kidneys, Liver and Spleen to clear out these waste products and return the purified blood to the heart.

Our lungs take up oxygen from the air we breathe into our red blood cells and this oxygen provides energy and life to every cell in our body. If we are not delivering enough oxygen to our cells we cannot oxidise impurities and maintain cell health and vitality and we suffer from a lack of energy and a build up of toxins in our system.

Oxygenation in turn depends on breathing deeply and efficiently, on the health of our blood vessels and cardio vascular system generally. It also depends on the quality of our red blood cells that in turn depends on the health of our bone marrow and spleen.

The heart is the organ that drives the arterial blood around the body and this unique organ never takes a rest. It beats regularly and strongly every day of our lives and its idea of a holiday is the break, of a fraction of a second, which it takes between each beat.

Contrary to popular and medical opinion, the primary reasons for heart problems developing throughout ones life are rooted in the emotions and not in weaknesses or defects in the physical systems as such.

A typical heart patient has developed an habitual response to stress which involves tensing up the musculature region generally in the upper mid back and chest. This same sort of habitual muscular tension is also involved in hiatal hernia, back pain, stomach ulcers and asthma for example.

This tension affects the heart's ability to rest between beats because it cannot gain the full relaxation it needs to rest and to repair and maintain itself. Half a lifetime of such tension is sufficient, on its own, to create heart disease.

Of course I am not saying here that we should ignore factors like clogging of the arteries with fatty or calcium build up as in atherosclerosis and arteriosclerosis; or the damage done by smoking; or the pressures put on the circulatory system by high blood pressure or obesity.

However, one must always look beyond the physical and there are emotional reasons involved in all of these other seemingly physical factors as well, and just because emotional factors cannot be measured like the fat content of food for example, does not mean that they are not more important to heart health than what you put into your mouth.

The explanation that heart problems are genetically hereditary is therefore also unhelpful, because it suggests that certain people are physiologically predisposed to heart problems, and this is simply not true in most cases.

What is true is that before we have reached adulthood we have absorbed the habitual reaction and responses to stress of our parents and others around us, and have likely taken up all sorts of other habits and values from them as well.

It will not be until scientific medicine reintegrates the holistic values of all traditional medical systems that it is going to be able to get out of the symptom management and surgical repair business and into preventative medicine and healing.

In consultation with heart patients I explain to them their own particular reasons for developing heart disease and explain the simple measures they can take to alleviate these factors.

I then prepare a mixture of concentrate herbal extracts of the following herbs to assist in the repair and rehabilitation of the heart itself. These include Cactus, Hawthorne, Parsley, Nettle, Garlic and Equisetum and the Bach Flower remedies Oak and Rescue Remedy.

Folk with heart disease of any type will feel an immediate relief in terms of breathlessness, angina and vitality brought about simply by providing these health tonics to the heart and its support systems. If these people go on to change long terms habits that have contributed to their illness, they can look forward to making these improvement in vitality permanent.

Yours Sincerely,
Robert McDowell

Hi People,

Today's topic, 'Heart Health' is one of my favorites. As a 20 yr old university student going through very difficult times I developed alarming heart problems. The last thing I wanted was to go into a hospital and put the rest of my life on hold being a 'heart-patient'.

Fortunately for me, Robert was around and besides making 2 herbal tonics for me (one to be taken thrice a day and the other for emergencies), and working on my diet and work habits, he also quite clearly said that heart problems had their root in emotional and stress issues.

I remember being shocked by the idea. Anyway, I thought about it, took it seriously and went about dealing with things I'd kept 'in the little back cupboard of my heart' for a long time. And here I am just 3 years from then, no heart problems, no health problems and having a 24x7 party with my new lease of life.

So here's wishing everyone great heart health too!

Until next week,
Navneet
