'lisa@petcarecompany.net' Look out for more information on the seminars next newsletter. This week we feature:- Canine - Invertebral Disc disease Invertebral Disc disease is a condition in which the cartilaginous disc ruptures and intrudes into the spinal canal between the vertebras & compresses the Spinal cord. The symptoms you are noticing are therefore caused by the reduction in the Nervous systems ability to provided efficient feedback to particular organs & muscles. There are two issues here to look at, firstly the degeneration of the nerve supply & the resulting incontinence & lack of muscle control of both sphincters. To address the degeneration of the spine & its effect on the nervous system I recommend the spinal tonic see link; http://www.altivoe.com/herbs_spinal_injury.html This tonic supports the function of the nervous system & supports healing of any physical nervous system injury. This tonic is the same as I use on my human clients & the dosage for your dog is 10 drops 2x daily. I also recommend that you try the Incontinence mix see link; http://www.herbal-dogkeeping.com/dog_dog_incontinence.html This mix tones up and soothes the lining of the bladder, reduces acidity in the urine, improves the tone of the bladder sphincter & the anal sphincter, and helps prevent opportunistic infections. I would also supplement his diet with a porridge of rolled oats & 2 dessertspoons of crushed millet & linseed 1 x daily mixed in watered down yoghurt strengthens the nervous system) into food, to help restore health of hard & soft tissue. Also stuff a handful of Parsley, 1 Rosehip Teabag & 1 teaspoon of Dandelion tea granules altogether into one cup of boiling water & cool. Just purchase the teas & make 1 cup at a time. * Parsley supports the nervous system. * Dandelion tea to support the liver . * Rosehips tea to support kidney & adrenal function. Dose half a cup into meal or direct into water supply. Keep fresh drinking water separate & freely available. Chiropractic or acupuncture therapy can also be beneficial. Equine - Lymphangitis - Swollen legs All symptoms point to the horse fighting some sort of infection in the body. The swelling legs indicate that the lymphatic system is not working as well as it should. 1; As this type of swelling is due to an upset in the lymphatic system usually brought on by an infection of some type I recommend the Blood Cleanser this will also boost the immunity, which is found at: http://www.herbal-treatments.com/horse_blood_cleanser.html 2; Along with my Hoof Oil mix as well. This is a powerful herbal blend that will promote circulation in the lower limb, it is found at http://www.herbal-treatments.com/horse_hoof_oil.html 3; I recommend that you also place some Fenugreek tea into the feed. This tea will help to support the Lymphatic system. Simply mix 2 dessert spoons to 1 Litre boiling water, cool and mix 1/2 AM feed rest PM feed every day. 4; Twice daily give a dose of cold Rosehips Tea made by soaking a 1/4 cup of Rosehips Granules in a pint of boiling water and leaving it until cold. When cold, the tea grounds and all, is used to dampen down dried feed in the morning and evening. Human - Preparations for Birth and Baby Giving birth to your child is one of the most important and memorable events of your life and you want it to be a "good" memory so it is worth preparing yourself well . 1. Taking the Pre/Post Op Mix: http://www.altivoe.com/herbs_pre_post_operation_support.html not because you are going to have an operation but to charge up your immunity and adrenal reserves for the delivery. Start 4 weeks before and continue for the first month after delivery. 2. You also need Castor Oil on hand as at the first signs of any blockage in milk ducts you can apply castor oil between feeds to clear them and prevent the development of any mastitis:http://www.altivoe.com/herbs_mastitis.html See also other links for advice: http://www.altivoe.com/herbs_birthing_natal_depression.html 3. For baby you need to have Rescue Remedy on hand and this may be given at any time, just a single drop on the lips or on the inside of the wrist is fine for any stress or trauma. 4. You also need to have cold Chamomile Tea so that you can give a few drops of this again wetting baby's lips at any time as an aid to establishing a comfortable digestion very early on. No reason you shouldn’t be drinking chamomile regularly and sharing a tiny spoon with baby from day one. http://www.altivoe.com/herbs_colic.html Rescue Remedy and Chamomile and a Calm Mum are probably all you need to avoid Colic but I do have a mix to help should it become an issue for baby. The advice is treat yourself before during and after and relax and allow breast milk to start up and baby to become established with feeding as task No.1. If this is your first, be prepared to wait several days for it all to get going and resist a "supplement bottle" to make you feel better. It is best to wait for the natural milk than assault their digestive system with some strange product which their systems will almost certainly react against in some way or other. Home Remedies - Make your own Comfrey Ointment 8 oz. of dried comfrey leaves 1 pint of vegetable oil 1/2 sq. in. of beeswax Place the comfrey and the vegetable oil in a double boiler and simmer gently for 3 hours. Carefully monitor the temperature of the herbal oil to make certain it does not exceed 160 degrees. Comfrey contains allantoin and higher temperatures destroy it. After 3 hours, strain the mixture through a fine sieve or cheesecloth. To 3 1/2 oz. of comfrey oil add 1/2 sq. in. of beeswax. Place the mixture in the double boiler and heat gently until the beeswax has melted. Pour the ointment into a dark colored jar. Store in a cool dark place. The ointment will keep for up to one year. Reader Feed Back Hepatitis C - Normalizing Blood Levels Hi Robert, After using your medication for one month I had a pathology test yesterday 14/06/05, today I have the results. ( virtually all patients develop liver cell injury, as shown by blood tests for a marker of liver damage called ALT.) * ALT ( liver enzymes) has gone down from 195 to 122 the lowest it has ever been. U/L (5 - 40) * AST has gone down from 121 to 74 the lowest it has ever been. U/L (5 - 40) and a number of other readings have adjusted to the normal side.
