Robert McDowell's Herbal Treatments 05 May 2007 Herbal Help for Humans and their CompanionsA little kingdom I possess Where thoughts and feelings dwell, And very hard I find the task Of governing it well. For passion tempts and troubles me, A wayward will misleads, And selfishness its shadow casts On all my words and deeds. I do not ask for any crown But that which all may win, Nor seek to conquer any world Except the one within. Written by Louisa May Alcott at age 14 Author of "LITTLE WOMEN" This week we feature:-
Feline - Cats eat grass - Why? It is also the juices of the grass that cats are interested in. It is known that grasses contain folic acid, a vitamin that is vital to cats as it helps in the production of haemoglobin. For a cat to be deficient in folic acid would stunt its growth and may cause anaemia. If your cats have no access to a garden why don't you plant them some herbs to nibble on. You can purchase catnip and chamomiole and even alfalfa sprouts , just add some water and within a few days your cats should have a lush supply to chew on. Wishing you happy cats. Canine - Our New Canine Cancer Website http://www.herbsforcaninecancer.com So many of our canine friends are now suffering from the whole range of cancers just like humans.I can't help but feel that humans are responsible for this in how we have altered their natural feeding regime. For a dog it is supremely important they have a raw meat and bones diet and that they are not overfed. One meal a day is all they need. Many folk have real trouble with this recommendation because of their desire to pamper and over-care for their animals and the pressure of the commercial dog feed and supplement industry. Read again my article on the subject: http://www.herbal-dogkeeping.com/articles_digestive_system_ofadog.html As long as the cancer is not too aggressive or late stage, I can safely and inexpensively offer a treatment that offers a better chance of a healthy and extended remission. We look forward to helping your dogs. Equine - Loose Stools We can manage the loose stools with slippery elm and chamomile tea, both of which will also assist to repair the nervous system (parasympathetic), sooth the inflammation and firm the stools. Mixed into 2 cups of chamomile tea- add to feed once a day. Maritime Pine Bark is an excellent additive to the feed for older animals, high in Bioflavonoids which assists in the uptake of Vit C- important for connective tissue repair particularly collagen. Maritime pine also has anti-inflammatory effects- adding to the overall soothing nature of the treatment protocol. Human - Smoke Cravings are Maddening We always need reminding about the excellence of MPB. We had some one write the other day that as long as she stays on MPB "two squirts twice daily" she will not get cold sores. It boils down to being a wonderful tonic for many conditions and circumstances. Robert himself says "I also notice a loss in vitality when I miss taking it, which tells me that it is doing me good, besides the fact that I know it is very good insurance against anything really nasty developing." One of our readers sent in the following website with fascinating reading about maritime pine bark: http://www.eurekalert.org Home Remedies - Black Strap Molasses Black Strap Molasses is made from Sugar Cane. The roots of the sugar cane grow as deep as 15 feet and therefore are able to receive a broad spectrum of minerals and trace elements normally lacking in the top soils. Blackstrap molasses comes from a third boiling in the sugar cane process leaving behind the exceptionally rich mineral/trace element cocktail, with a good selection of vitamins. It's very thick and dark and somewhat bitter. Health food followers describe all sorts of benefits to a diet rich in blackstrap molasses. Because it is an end-product all the ingredients, residues, and toxins in the plant can be concentrated in the molasses. For this reason it is important to purchase organic molasses. Rich in iron and copper. Copper, an essential component of many enzymes, plays a role in a wide range of physiological processes including iron utilization, elimination of free radicals, development o f bone and connective tissue, and the production of the skin and hair pigment called melanin. Take a tablespoon every day in milk. I blended it with a cup of milk one half to three quarters of a banana - a great shake!! In efforts to make it healthier, I add about 1/4 teaspoon of cinammon and a tiny piece of fresh ginger. It's a wonderful tasting breakfast. Another recipe:- Try it in warm milk - tatses like coffee latte. Reader Feed Back - Thank you to both our contributors for taking time to share with us. Gelatine + Vitamin C My wife had two herniated discs in her lower back that in time destroyed some of the nerves to her leg. We finally found a surgeon that performed a very successful micro surgery (about 20 years ago). Nevertheless he could only promise further deterioration of her spine both vertibrae and discs. About 5 years ago my wife started on gelatine (as found in the supermarket) and large doses of Vitamin C along with blackstrap molasses. Within weeks her limp improved and feeling to her legs has slowly improved. I have seen it work well in my son who suffered badly from a hyper extended knee. kind regards Greg Canine Vaccinations Received the newsletter today, and was good to see the article on vaccinations.
