This week we feature:-

Feline - Hyperthyroidism

"Sombra gets more quality time with Hyperthyroidism"

The herbal treatment you sent for our cat has saved her life. We were at the decision point of having to put her to sleep because she was losing so much weight and could not keep any food down. She has been to a regular vet and he told me that she does have an over active thyroid and gave me pills to give her 3 times a day and said they would only work a short time. It was a nightmare trying to get the pills down her and not worth the misery to her or to me which convinced me to look for a better solution and lead me to your web site.

Sombra, our cat, is 16 this month and has over the last several months become a walking skeleton. We started your treatment December 6Th and is steadily gaining weight. She is no longer vomiting daily - only twice since starting treatment. Her only remaining symptom is fresh blood on her stool but that has improved. I think that is from ulcers in her system from vomiting so much.

I don't know how much more time I can give her but I do want her to have quality of life and not to suffer. I almost forgot. She had gotten to where she could barely jump on our bed and that is improving also. Of course just being able to have a full belly and not get sick is doing her the most good! I attached a couple of quick pictures of her. You can see how thin she is but at least now you don't feel every vertebrae in her spine.

My words could never express how greatful I am to have found your site!

Thank you!

God Bless

Michel

Canine - Caring for the Older Dog

I have an article on caring for an Older Dog on my website;
http://www.herbal-dogkeeping.com/articles_care_of_older_dog.html

I discuss many of the issues faced by older dogs and make a variety of suggestions as to how their health may be enhanced. Their health and prospects are very much tied up with the owner, diet and all the rest.

Always be conscious of your dog's diet , weight and exercise patterns. Certainly cataracts and kidney health are linked weight and exercise patterns but also to overall health and heart problems .

My simple suggestions to prepare them better for a healthier old age would be to treat the cataracts externally by routine use of my Eye Wash to be found on;
http://www.herbal-dogkeeping.com/dog_eye_wash.html

and the conditioning mix to be found on;
http://www.herbal-dogkeeping.com/dog_conditioning_mix.html

This combination offers the best chance of slowing down the metabolic changes which result in cataracts and to slow them down topically by ensuring the best nourishment entering directly through the external application.

I also have very valuable kidney and heat tonics when these are necessary.

Equine - Wind Sucking

Wind sucking is the aspiration of air; the horse arches its neck and gulps in air. Some horses do this while holding onto a stable object with their teeth; others do it unaided. It results in a grunting type of noise. The horse learns to suck air simply by creating a vacuum in the mouth. The vast majority of horses that wind suck suffer no adverse effects at all. If the habit is severe the muscles on the underside of the neck may get bigger and this might be regarded as unsightly.

You can purchase a windsucking collar from your local horse products supplier.

Put stop crib on timber surfaces to discourage chewing.

Put this horse with others for company, keeping in mind that it is a habit that can be passed on to other young impressionable horses, so the company of older horses is a better option.

If the horse is by itself give it a large ball to kick around.

Running an electric or hot wire around the top of the posts will discourage without poisoning the horse.

In the meantime, start the horse on rosehip and chamomile tea; these will calm and condition the sensitive gut. See link for preparation:

http://www.herbal-treatments.com.au/horse_rosehips_granules.html

Use the teas to dampen feed twice daily.

If you are not getting positive results with the chamomile tea you may need to treat with my nervous rehab mix:

It may also be worthwhile to add Slippery elm powder to his diet just to rule out ulcers or similar gut distress:
http://www.herbal-treatments.com.au/horse_slippery_elm_bark_powder.html

You can source this locally and just dose 1/3 of a cup mixed with the cold chamomile tea to slurry and add to feed once daily.

Rescue remedy squirted onto the feed or directly into the mouth will also assist in making positive changes to behaviour:

Human - Stop Smoking

This time of year more and more people choose to give up smoking. Smokers may have high stress lives or jobs that makes them become irritated and snappy. They may be the type with a driven impulsive personality or live completely for their work.

In the energetic sense smoking is a way of placing a smoke screen over the heart Chakra. This is to say it helps protect you from others seeing what you really have in your heart. If you fill you lungs constantly with smoke and toxins you somehow protect your heart from exposing its innermost feelings, normally because you are afraid of opening up and being hurt. Another way of protecting yourself from being hurt is to build up a bigger layer of padding around you.

Giving up smoking is one of the hardest things to do-try all the avenues, "Quit" program, patches, hypnotherapy and get support from your friends. And keep trying you may not do it on the first attempt.

Have alook at the following sites for more information.

Kylie shares her story here:

I could not recommend a quit smoking program more highly than your Quit smoking/Weight loss herbs. I have been completely niccotine free for more than 2 years now, and know I will never have another cigarette. I had been a smoker for 15 years (yes, I can honestly say that I enjoyed those smoking years on a superficial level) and had made a few attempts to quit (once for 11 months) without long lasting success.

Yours is the first product that did not offer nicotine replacement therapy (after all, that's what you want to be rid of) and addressed the real reason lurking behind the habit.

Your herbs helped me to manage the cravings & unlock the truth of what I was doing to my body - as I developed a greater awareness of the destruction I was causing (the last few cigarettes I ever smoked I did so on my own with full awareness of a black tar coating my lungs & poison curling through my heart & veins).

I commenced your herbal treatment which not only helped to reduce the cravings but also manifested itself in a 'new life' cleansing ritual. The bottom line - yes I still felt extremely agitated/angry for a few weeks but it was a very manageable, transformative process. The gift of a new clearer, cleaner self without the smokescreen is irreplaceable.

Thankyou. And no, I didn't put on any weight & have much more energy!

Regards

Home Remedies - Cinnamon

Cinnamon not only delights the taste buds, but benefits other parts of our body as well. It is one of the world's oldest healers. Recent research studies show that cinnamon contains constituents that can kill bacteria and other micro-organisms. It has the following properties: analgesic, antiseptic, anti-spasmodic, cardiac, carminative, emmenagogue, insecticide, stimulant, stomachic, and tonic.

Like many culinary spices, cinnamon helps soothe the stomach. But a Japanese animal study revealed that it also may help prevent ulcers.

  • Cinnamon steeped in warm milk has been used to relieve symptoms of altitude sickness.
  • Ground cinnamon has been used on a wet toothbrush as an antiseptic forgum disease, mouth sores and cavities.
  • Apply as a wash and soak for skin fungus such as athletes foot.
  • Cinnamon simmered in milk with a little honey added has been used to treat indigestion, griping, diarrhea and bloating. Combining with slippery elm enhances its effect.
  • A compound tea has been used to treat nausea (3 small thin sticks of cinnamon, 1 tbsp cardamom seeds, 1 tbsp nutmeg; powdered together in a coffee blender, 1/4 tsp being used to 1 cup of hot water for an adult, a small pinch in 1 cup of tepid water for a child).
  • It has been used externally as a wash to clean wounds.
  • It also appears to help people use insulin more efficiently therefore making it a possible support for prediabetics.
